Every day of the year, an estimated 100 Americans die from breast cancer. That’s more than an estimated 36,000 friends and loved ones who will die this year — and every year in the future — until we fulfill our promise to find the cures to end breast cancer forever.

But there is good news. Survival rates are at an all-time high, with more breast cancer survivors than ever before.

We at the South Florida Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® are focused on funding programs for awareness and early detection so that breast cancer can be detected at earlier stages when chances for survival are increased. By providing programs to under-served populations we can give them access to the most up-to-date and life-saving treatments available. Over the past fiscal year, through our grantees, we provided funding for over 4,400 mammograms and biopsies to women and men who had little or no health insurance. Have you or a loved one ever found a lump but had no insurance or job to afford a mammogram? In these difficult economic times, many in our community are facing that issue. Help us to assist those in our community who are less fortunate than ourselves. Help them to have the peace of mind in knowing they will be able to watch their children become young adults.

A gift of $100 can help fund educational and screening programs that will make a difference in the lives of the people in our community. With the tireless help of our volunteers, sponsors and donors, we are reaching those people who need our help most. Any donation you can provide will help to make a difference in someone’s life. And time is of the essence for the hundreds of thousands of women and men who could be diagnosed with breast cancer in the coming months and years.
