Susan G. Komen for the Cure is the leader of the global breast cancer movement. We have played a critical role in every major advance in the fight against breast cancer since 1982, transforming how the world talks about and treats this disease and helping to turn millions of breast cancer patients into breast cancer survivors.

The purpose of the South Florida Affiliate's education and community outreach programs is to:

  • raise public awareness about breast health and breast cancer;
  • increase breast cancer screening and early detection;
  • identify gaps in services that must be reduced to improve breast health; and
  • connect people with resources they need in their fight against breast cancer.

The Affiliate provides a variety of education and community outreach programs to achieve these goals, including Health Fairs, consumer shows and participation in the Speakers Bureau. Our Community Profile provides direction for the education and community outreach programs, and is the basis for determining the areas of most need. This allows us to focus efforts where the work of the Affiliate can have the most significant impact.

If you would like to invite us to your health fair, please download and complete our Health Fair application.  For information about scheduling one of our Speakers, please download and complete our Speakers' Bureau request form.  To see a list of our upcoming Speakers Bureau appearances, click here.

Susan G. Komen for the Cure recommends a 3-step approach to breast cancer screening that includes, depending a woman's age, a combination of mammography, clinical breast exams and breast self-exams.
