Grants
The South Florida Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure is proud to be funding $1,104,410.00 to support 32 local grantees for the current fiscal year, April 1, 2008 to March 31, 2009. These grants are used to provide breast health education, breast cancer screening, as well as diagnosis and treatment support programs. Up to 75% of the funds raised through events like Komen South Florida Race for the Cure, stay in our community, the remaining 25% goes to the Komen National Award and Research Grant program. The Komen South Florida Affiliate grants award process ensures the impartial allocation of funds for qualified nonprofit organizations, educational institutions and government entities. The Community Profile, conducted every other year by the Komen South Florida Education Committee, examines the specific breast health needs within our service area. The identified needs are prioritized and serve as a guide for decision making for the Community Grants Review Panel. Only projects that address breast health needs are considered. These grants have been selected by our independent Review Panel as those that will have the greatest impact in serving uninsured and underinsured women/men in Palm Beach, Martin and St. Lucie Counties. |
